Your friend the Telephone

Network marketing is built on one thing--communication. We can be paid commissions because we are the advertising budget of the corporation. We tell others about the company's products and they may or may not choose to purchase. Just like an expensive television commercial.

If that is what we are paid to do, then it makes sense that we have the best tools to do our job. The tools are simple. You probably have them already. The most important tool is a phone.

Some people today only have a cell phone. That's fine if you have unlimited minutes. You will be talking and listening a lot. Also, keep in mind that your cell phone is not listed in any phone book or on the internet, so some people will not be able to find you. If you only have a cell phone then make lots of business cards and get them distributed far and wide. I suggest having both a home phone and a cell phone.

Contact your phone company to ask about setting up call waiting, caller ID, and 3 way calling. If you currently have call waiting you probably have 3 way calling. This is important because the most effective sponsoring comes from doing 3 way calls with your upline. Eventually your downline will call you to do 3 ways for them.

While you are setting up your phone options, consider having voicemail that comes on when you are talking to someone else. The call waiting may beep, but if it is not a really important call then you can ignore it and let them leave a voicemail. If people can't leave you a message you will probably miss some business opportunities.

We have been in companies that required you to buy training audio cassettes or CDs in order to receive your commissions. Holy cow. Talk about no choice in the matter! And those tools were often over priced.

This company doesn't ask that. Their tools are reasonable, optional and often free. Instead of buying endless tapes and CDs this company makes most of their training available online and by telephone. In order to listen in by telephone I would recommend that you find a flat rate long distance provider. That way you never have to think about cost when you listen to conference calls. You also will be calling your cleansing coach and those that you enroll. Your new cleansers need your daily contact for awhile. Don't be held back by worrying about how much a minute it is costing you to be their support.

These are all necessary business expenses, but because you have a flat rate long distance you can call your long distance family and friends without any worry of the cost. It's as if your personal calls are now free.

Now it is nice to get all set up with these phone options, but the most important thing is to pick up the phone and call people. We had a networking trainer once who gave us stickers for our phones that said Cash Machine. Just a little remind that commissions are based upon talking to people, and the phone is the best tool to get the job done!
