Have you ever noticed that when you try to set a goal your brain resists. You may doubt your ability to reach this goal and so the logical thing to do is not even set a goal.
We recently heard of a technique to get around this sabatoge from your own mind. When you play a game called Wouldn't It Be Nice the walls of resistance are less likely to go up.
Here's how the game works. You think of something small you would like. Maybe a new pair of shoes you have been wanting. And you say wouldn't it be nice if I had that pair of shoes. Since it is pretty likely that you could get the shoes without too much trouble your brain doesn't even squirm.
Then your partner says his wouldn't it be nice if..........
Keep progressing back and forth with bigger and bigger dreams until you are stating big, hairy, audacious goals. It's just a game, after all.
The great thing about this is that you can find out some inner desires that you have that you have never dared to even think about. And in the playing of the game your subconcious starts to work on ways to get to those goals.
So relax. Have fun with this. Wouldn't it be nice if we all could see ourselves with our true potential for creating a meaningful life?
