My husband and I have been talking a lot lately about what makes one person a great networker and another not. Especially when they both start out like gang busters. Eventually one just sort of fades away and the other perserveres.
There are several factors, I'm sure, including personality and self belief. But in my mind one characteristic stands out above all the rest. The person who eventually triumphs has an ironclad resolve to do so.
They have just as much if not more rejection. They have tons of people quit. They enroll people who take a lot of time. They have product returned (or left on their doorstep in the middle of the night.)
No matter.
The goal is all that matters.
Every leader in every networking company has a ton of people who quit. Some go with a lot of noise and hostility, but most just fade away.
If you are in the position of noticing that retention is slipping, know that you are in good company. Then do your best to make contact with them and get them involved again. But, hey, if they don't want to play the game, let them go. There are millions and millions of people out there. Go find someone else with dreams and ambition.
Resolve today to have ironclad resolve, like every leader that you have ever known! It will pay you big time in the end.
