If you have been around network marketing for even a short while you surely know that there are three beliefs that are imperative if you are going to build a business.
1. Belief in network marketing
2. Belief in your company and its products
3. Belief in yourself
Ah, now here is where the paradox comes in. oSo much of what you experience at the beginning of your network marketing experiences knocks down your self-belief. People say they will come to your meeting and they don't. They say they will join and then they don't. They say they will stay forever and then they don't.
And, what would any normal person conclude? THERE MUST BE SOMETHING WRONG WITH ME! Pretty tough to maintain a high self-belief when much of the evidence is pointing to the fact that you cannot do this.
I have watched successful networkers for a long time. It is not really WHAT they did that made them successful, it was their perfect knowledge that they would make it big. They could have stood on the street corner and waved a big sign like a High School car wash fundraiser, and they would have been successful, because they KNEW they were going to be successful.
Once they are successful they want to bring everyone along to their level. They really want this badly. So they try all kinds of crazy things like telling everyone to leave business cards in public places or putting fliers under windshield wipers at the Walmart parking lot. And here's the honest truth. If THEY were doing all those crazy things they would make a success of it. But you don't, because you really don't believe that it is something that will work for you. And it doesn't.
This is what I know about how to get past this block.
Success comes from massive action, follow up, and self-belief. The massive action is usually a combination of approaches. However you talk to new people everyday, make sure you are talking to new people every day. Phone leads are nice but you must call at least 20 a week and 20 live bodies a day is better. Postcard leads work if you are willing to send out thousands of postcards. Contacting everyone you know just to let them know what you are doing is a good idea. No pressure, just informing. Calling your top ten people with your sponsor works if your sponsor believes in themselves.
Your self-belief is raised at every function, when you listen to conference calls, when you listen to company CDs, and when you read self-improvement books. My suggested list of books is under my profile. I am always working at reading a book. It takes me a long time to finish one, but it is worth it.
The long and the short of it is, when you do this you become a new and better person. Go for the whole enchilada! The worst possible thing that can happen is that you will get better along the way! You want to win? Never quit.
