On our Wednesday night mastermind call we listened to Tom "Big Al" Schrieter's $100,000 formula for success in network marketing. He is so funny and yet so profound it will be hard to summarize what he says, but several people have asked that I do that so I will try.
There are 5 parts of the formula and he asks everyone to rate themselves from 0 to 10 on each part. The scores are then multiplied together and if someone had a perfect score of 10 in each area the answer would be 100,000 and they should be making a 6 figure income. Give it a try for yourself. It is fun and thought provoking.
The first component of success is the number of people that you talk to. That's pretty easy to guage. If you talk to lots of people weekly then give yourself a 10. If you don't talk to anyone give yourself a 0.
The second catagory is the quality of people that you talk to. Are there people of different qualities? Tom's example here was that Mongolian prisoners and 7 year old second graders cannot drive to opportunity meetings so they would definitly not be high quality prospects. This one is not so easy to rate, but give a good effort.
The third indicator of networking success if how much people like you. Ow. That is REALLY hard to judge. Tom gave some hints to help us. Do we talk more than listen? People generally like listeners more. Do leads really join because they like you? Apparently so. People tend to do business, any business, with people that they know, like and trust. Sometimes in a couple of phone conversations a lead can feel like they know, like and trust you and will join. Rate yourself here the best that you can.
The fourth component of the formula is your skill level at presenting the business and enrolling a new person. Well, we all start out at 0 or 1 and gradually work our way up. Right now, what would you rate your skill level.
The last area is the most important. This is your self-image. Tom takes quite a bit of time talking about how if you are making more money than you think you are worth you will do something to bring yourself back down to where you feel comfortable. Or if you aren't making the money you think you deserve you immediately get into action to remedy the situation. A good example is someone who wins the lottery and blows all the money in a few years and then is worse off than he was before. So it is important to figure out what your self-image is. Can you honestly see yourself being a 6 star golden circle? If not, why not? What do you need to do to raise your self-image?
Now take your scores and multiply the first times the second times the third times the fourth times the fifth. You will notice that if any one score is 0 the entire scores becomes 0. That was the biggest shocker to me in this whole presentation. Tom suggests that you take your lowest score and try to raise it by a point or two. If your lowest score is a 0 then raise it to 1 and you will immediately begin to see some success.
I hope you realize that the best leaders in the industry are working on themselves all the time. As Renata Lee says, "No one emerged from the womb as a born network marketer. It takes time and training."
Enjoy the journey! This is a self-improvement course with a compensation plan attached!
